Because we are so careful about the health of displaced children in all camps, Our health education team implemented an awareness campaign for school children this time in Nawroz camp Derik city. The campaign was about lice infection and methods of prevention and treatment, in addition to providing them with medical supplies
To facing all the difficulties of living in camps, we continue supporting
The inability to return home forced IDPs to live poor conditions, like the tough weather during summer or winter. That leads to direct health awareness and relief services to them. However, our health education teams are distributing mosquito nets in Washokani camp, in order to protect the people from mosquitos especially in Summer, as well as raising awareness about this issue. That was in cooperation with Rojava and Acted NGOs
Anti lice campaign in Al shahba
Head lice are one of the most common types of skin infections among children. It is a concern for children and their families as it takes long time to get rid of it totally.
Our medical teams in Shehaba areas distributed medical supplies for school children in the camps (Brakhadan, Sardam, Afrin, Shehaba- Al-Awda) to avoid this infection. The team explained its symptoms and the way of preventing it, besides how to use those materials.
Spreading of Leishmania and its services in KRC
Parallel with the recent wide spreading of Leishmania in al-Hol and Washokani camps besides the city of Tel Tamer, health education teams have intensified their awareness campaigns in order to raise awareness of this disease through defining it and showing people how to deal with it and how to protect themselves from it , in addition to guiding patients to having treatment at the Kurdish Red Crescent/KRC/ points.
“Diarrhea awareness” campaign continues for the second week
The awareness campaign related to Diarrhea cases which started by Kurdish Red Crescent teams a week ago, continues for another week in Sery Kaniyeh camp.
The campaign launched after an increase in diarrhea cases, especially among children through distributing the brochures, awareness-raising health sessions and dispensing ORS medicine.
the awareness month of World Breast Cancer
Annually, there are about 1.38 million new infected cases and 458,000 deaths due to breast cancer
(according to website Globocan estimates2008,the International Agency for Research on Cancer).
Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women in the advanced and developing countries alike.
In recent years, cancer rates have been shown to be rising steadily in low- and middle-income countries, due to average life expectancy, higher rates of urbanization and adoption of Western lifestyles.
To this moment, the causes of breast cancer are not known so, the early detection is still a cornerstone to fight against the disease .
October is an awareness month of World Breast Cancer and with the passage of a year since the opening of the Kurdish Red Crescent Center for Early Detection of Breast Cancer on 8/10/2019 , a special committee of awareness and education started an awareness program about the disease, which will last for a full month, through several topics on prevention, methods of follow-up and cyclic checkup.
The center where locates in the western neighborhood in Qamishlo city, receives cases by a special team consiste of nurses, a radiologist and a psychological support department that help them to overcome the difficulties and fear of disease and how to behave with the treatment phase in the event of infection.
Since the last year, the center of the developed Mamograph device received about 951 cases of detection included six infected cases.
An awareness campaign for children about cleaning in Barkhadan and Sardam camps
In addition to medical and life relif services , the Kurdish Red Crescent started a campiegn in Berkhadan and Berkhadan and Serdem camps to raise awareness about hygiene in order to avoid the symptoms and diseases resulted by lack of personal cleaning.
The campiegn and includes special lessons for the children.
