World Suicide Day and Awareness Sessions
World Suicide Day, celebrated on the tenth of September of each year, is an important occasion aimed at raising awareness about mental health issues and providing ways to prevent suicide. Within the framework of this occasion, the Kurdish Red Crescent organizes a variety of activities that highlight the importance of social support and community awareness about the dangers of suicide, by organizing awareness sessions under the slogan “Changing the Discourse on Suicide” that extend over five consecutive days targeting men and women over the age of eighteen in several areas such as Tal Tamr, Al-Shadada, Abu Khashab, Abu Qalqal, Manbij city, Raqqa city, Al-Jurniya, Gire Lage, Al-Hol camp and Washokani camp, where psychological support services are available within KRC health facilities. This occasion is an opportunity to enhance our understanding of the causes of suicide, which contributes to building a more cohesive society that is able to face psychological challenges, as providing the necessary information and assistance can make a real difference in the lives of many people, and thus contribute to effectively reducing suicide rates.
