A humanitarian appeal for Sheikh Maqsoud
The Kurdish Red Crescent has provided urgent medical assistance to our displaced people from the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods through a mobile clinic and a fully equipped ambulance, staffed by specialized medical personnel. Approximately 49 displaced families have arrived at the Takoshin camp in the city of Tabqa, which already houses 175 families displaced from the Shahba region since the end of 2014, following the fall of the Assad regime.
Additionally, 118 wounded individuals, mostly civilians, have arrived, requiring continuous and urgent medical care. Further waves of displaced people, including the injured and ill, are expected to arrive in the coming period. The camp faces increasing challenges in securing basic medical and relief services due to the continuous rise in the number of displaced people, amid legitimate fears of potential ethnic cleansing should they return to their original towns and villages.
This dire humanitarian situation necessitates the continuation and intensification of humanitarian efforts to ensure that the growing needs are met.
