3 December، 2024/in Emergency, Health, WASH/by neruda

Given the importance of the water, sanitation, and hygiene sector during crises, the Kurdish Red Crescent WASH team conducted preliminary assessments of shelters for displaced people from #Aleppo and #Shahba areas. These assessments aimed to identify emergency interventions in humanitarian response within the water and sanitation sector. The measures included tests to monitor water quality, as well as identifying hygiene needs. Information and lists were also shared with partner organizations and the Office of Organisation Affairs, facilitating the rapid implementation of interventions to alleviate the suffering of internally displaced persons (IDPs).

Significant challenges facing us due to the increasing number of displaced people

3 December، 2024/in Emergency, Health, Reports, Stories/by neruda

Kurdish Red Crescent teams are continuing their efforts to set up temporary tents to accommodate displaced people at reception points in Raqqa city. However, these efforts are facing significant challenges due to the increasing number of displaced individuals and the high level of need, making them insufficient to meet the demands of all.

The humanitarian crisis in Aleppo and AlShahba: an appeal for solidarity and assistance

2 December، 2024/in Emergency, Health, Reports, Stories/by neruda

The city of #Aleppo, its countryside, and the Al-Shahba area are experiencing a severe humanitarian crisis, worsened by recent military events in these regions. This has resulted in the mass displacement of thousands of families, including many children, women, and the elderly, who are enduring harsh conditions of homelessness and bitter cold for days.
For our part, in addition to our readiness to provide necessary healthcare during their displacement and until they reach safe areas under the Autonomous Administration, we are committed to offering assistance to the best of our abilities. We urge our people at home and in the diaspora to extend a helping hand as much as possible, as solidarity in times of crisis reflects our humanity and strengthens the values of cooperation and brotherhood among us.
We hope for peace for all our people throughout Syria.

Faisal’s treatment journey

2 December، 2024/in Development, Health, PSS, Stories/by neruda

Faisal, who is 19 years old, has been receiving medical care at the Kurdish Red Crescent Hospital for Oncology, Thalassemia, and Burns for nearly a year. After going through this experience, Faisal wanted us to join him on a full day of his treatment journey, aiming to give us a glimpse into a part of his daily life. This step is not only to highlight the challenges he faces but also to encourage families about the importance of early attention and immediate intervention, which are essential elements in improving the health and lives of children with thalassemia. Faisal’s sharing of his experience serves as an urgent call for awareness about the importance of healthcare and providing necessary support for these children and their families. It is worth mentioning that the hospital welcomes blood donors on Mondays and Thursdays.
