Faisal’s treatment journey

2 December، 2024/in Development, Health, PSS, Stories/by neruda

Faisal, who is 19 years old, has been receiving medical care at the Kurdish Red Crescent Hospital for Oncology, Thalassemia, and Burns for nearly a year. After going through this experience, Faisal wanted us to join him on a full day of his treatment journey, aiming to give us a glimpse into a part of his daily life. This step is not only to highlight the challenges he faces but also to encourage families about the importance of early attention and immediate intervention, which are essential elements in improving the health and lives of children with thalassemia. Faisal’s sharing of his experience serves as an urgent call for awareness about the importance of healthcare and providing necessary support for these children and their families. It is worth mentioning that the hospital welcomes blood donors on Mondays and Thursdays.

Health education teams continue awareness sessions on the importance of early detection of breast cancer

28 October، 2024/in Development, Health/by neruda
The health education teams of the Kurdish Red Crescent play a vital role in raising awareness about breast cancer, especially during the month of October, known as the “Pink Month.”
By organizing events and lectures, these teams seek to enhance knowledge about the importance of early detection and prevention of this disease.
Women in camps and local communities benefit from these efforts, contributing to building a healthier and safer society.
These activities include not only awareness lectures, but also home visits, ensuring that information reaches the widest possible segment.

With one drop of blood, you can save a life

28 October، 2024/in Health, relief/by neruda

Blood donation is a noble humanitarian act that saves the lives of many patients, especially thalassemia patients who depend on regular blood transfusions to maintain their lives.
These patients suffer from a constant deficiency in hemoglobin, which is the protein that helps transport oxygen in the body, making blood donation a necessity for the continuity of their lives.
With the increasing number of patients at the Kurdish Red Crescent Oncology, Burns and Thalassemia Hospital, the need for blood donors increases significantly. Therefore, we urge all members of society to contribute to this charitable work, as donating blood is not just a help, but a moral duty and responsibility towards others. With one drop of blood, you can save a life.

Kurdish Red Crescent opens an educational and recreational center for children in Barkhwadan camp

16 October، 2024/in Development, Protection, PSS, Uncategorised/by neruda
The Kurdish Red Crescent’s initiatives to provide safe spaces for children are an important step towards supporting children’s growth and well-being.
The Kurdish Red Crescent has set up a center consisting of 3 rooms and a safe space for children in Barkhdan camp in the Shahba region. Work on it took about two months, and the Sterk Child Care Organization will take over its mission. It is equipped with educational materials and interactive games, such as a ping pong table and art tools, which provides a stimulating environment that encourages children to learn and be creative.
In addition, the solar system helps ensure the continuity of educational and recreational activities for children, ensuring a sustainable and environmentally friendly educational environment.

the services of “Al-Jarniyeh” Primary Health Care Center

9 June، 2024/in Development, Emergency, Health, Protection, PSS, Stories/by neruda

Kurdish Red Crescent Center/KRC/, provides primary health care services in an excellent manner to the locals of Al-Jarniyeh district and 69 neighboring villages, as the number of residents who benefit from these services is about 43 thousand people, and about 200 patients are received daily in the various medical departments , internal , gynecology, pediatrician , ambulance and natural obstetrics clinics.
In addition to providing health education sessions inside and outside the center and start with psychological support sessions , there is also a laboratory for conducting tests and a pharmacy. To ensure rapid and immediate emergency transport, a round-the-clock ambulance transports patients to Tabqa hospitals, 68 km from the centre, or Raqqa, 100 km away.
Providing services by KRC in this area is a crucial factor in improving the quality of health care provided, and promoting the public health besides educating the people of the region about the importance of prevention and basic health care.

30 April، 2024/in Development/by neruda

This morning, the Center of Prosthetics, Physical Therapy, and Psychological Support of the Kurdish Red Crescent received assistance including a set of mobility aids sent by the Austrian organization “Karawane der Menschlichkeit ” as a support to the center. We thank our friends for their support and contribution, but the center needs continuous support to be able to receive people in the regions of northern and eastern Syria.
