Health education teams continue awareness sessions on the importance of early detection of breast cancer

The health education teams of the Kurdish Red Crescent play a vital role in raising awareness about breast cancer, especially during the month of October, known as the “Pink Month.”
By organizing events and lectures, these teams seek to enhance knowledge about the importance of early detection and prevention of this disease.
Women in camps and local communities benefit from these efforts, contributing to building a healthier and safer society.
These activities include not only awareness lectures, but also home visits, ensuring that information reaches the widest possible segment.

With one drop of blood, you can save a life

Blood donation is a noble humanitarian act that saves the lives of many patients, especially thalassemia patients who depend on regular blood transfusions to maintain their lives.
These patients suffer from a constant deficiency in hemoglobin, which is the protein that helps transport oxygen in the body, making blood donation a necessity for the continuity of their lives.
With the increasing number of patients at the Kurdish Red Crescent Oncology, Burns and Thalassemia Hospital, the need for blood donors increases significantly. Therefore, we urge all members of society to contribute to this charitable work, as donating blood is not just a help, but a moral duty and responsibility towards others. With one drop of blood, you can save a life.

Early detection of breast cancer is one of the most important services of the Pink Month.

During 2024, 1283 examinations were conducted, including 680 ecographic examinations and 846 mammography examinations for women, including 24 confirmed positive cases of breast cancer within the Department of Early Detection of Breast Cancer at the Oncology, Burns and Thalassemia Hospital of the Kurdish Red Crescent in the city of Qamishlo. Currently, 10 of them are pursuing their treatment journey within the oncology department of the same hospital.
