An appeal from the Kurdish Red Crescent team in Kobani to humanitarian organizations

2 March، 2026/in Health, News, Protection/by user55
Appeal from the Kurdish Red Crescent Team in Kobanê to humanitarian organizations and to the United Nations, represented by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Mr. Barham Salih:
The city of Kobani and its surrounding countryside have been subjected for days to a brutal military campaign and a suffocating siege imposed by armed factions affiliated with the transitional government in Damascus. Despite the announcement of a ceasefire, the siege continues, and the entry of basic life necessities is still being blocked by these factions.
Water, fuel, and essential food supplies have been cut off from civilians, leading to the displacement of a large number of families into the city. Many of them are forced to sleep outdoors or in their vehicles. Recently, internet and communication services have also been cut off from the city.
The humanitarian situation is catastrophic and brings back painful memories for the people of Kobani of the time when the city was previously besieged by the so-called Islamic State.
We urgently appeal to you to intervene immediately and to fulfill your humanitarian and moral responsibilities toward the city of Kobani and its people

The Kurdish Red Crescent concluded a month full of activity and awareness campaigns.

30 October، 2025/in Awareness Campaigns, Development, Health, PSS/by user55
The Kurdish Red Crescent concluded a month filled with activities and awareness campaigns on early breast cancer detection. These included a variety of events such as: a sports marathon in collaboration with the Body Bicycle team and the Hez organization; awareness lectures in coordination with the Health Authority and the Women’s Foundation in Hasakah, Qamishli, and Derik; and sessions held at all Red Crescent points and communes in North and East Syria.
The Kurdish Red Crescent’s oncology hospital played a major role in receiving a large number of women for early screening, reflecting the community’s confidence in the efforts being made.
During the month, healthcare staff were honored in recognition of their dedication and commitment to raising awareness and encouraging women to get screened.
Despite the conclusion of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, work continues throughout the year at the oncology hospital, which has provided treatment to 210 women with breast cancer to date—because hope never ends, and the giving continues.
