“Early checkup. Step by thousand”

25 October، 2023/in Health, PSS/by neruda

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world. It is not just a disease, but a threat to women’s lives and health. Therefore, understanding the disease and raising awareness of its symptoms and ways to prevent it is essential for every woman and for society in general. Breast cancer is characterized by growing in the glandular cells of the breast and may spread to other parts of the body rapidly if early diagnosis and prompt treatment are not provided.
From this standpoint, and to pay more attention to women’s health, the Women’s Committee of the Kurdish Red Crescent always conducts extensive awareness campaigns about the disease during the pink month of October, for awareness and early detection of breast cancer, so that the title of this year it is “Early checkup… Step by thousand” where the campaign includes awareness sessions for women, the distribution of brochures and the suspension of awareness Felix for the Mammogram Center of the Kurdish Red Crescent.

With the provision of proper healthcare, it is not impossible to overcome diabetes.

24 September، 2023/in Health, Stories/by heyvasorakurd

We, at the Kurdish Red Crescent, consider healthcare and providing medical services as our main goal. Ibrahim Khudair Al-Hamoud, a fifty-year-old displaced person from the city of Serekaniye/Ras al-Ain, lives in the Serekaniye “Al-Talaeen” camp in eastern Al-Hasakah. He suffers from diabetes, which has affected his right foot. He receives care from the Kurdish Red Crescent point, where the medical team visits him regularly to receive care in the emergency department, including cleaning and sterilizing the affected foot, providing diabetes medication anti-biotics from the point’s pharmacy, after examinations and dietary instructions from the internal clinic, Mr. Ibrahim resumes walking on his feet, heading towards his tent, as if he is saying to the disease, “I will overcome you” .

2,000 monthly beneficiaries of medical services in the Shahba areas

18 September، 2023/in Health/by heyvasorakurd

The only medical center in Sardam camp, affiliated with the Kurdish Red Crescent, provides medical services around the clock to more than 3,700 displaced individuals in the camp. It receives approximately 2,000 beneficiaries monthly in the internal, pediatric, gynecological, emergency, pharmacy, leishmaniasis, protection, and psychosocial departments.

It is worth mentioning that the staff at the medical point intensify training related to the medical services provided, especially as winter approaches, as the number of patients increases due to the harsh conditions they are living in, leading to several seasonal diseases.

The leishmaniasis pandemic in Tel Temer and its countryside.

16 August، 2023/in Health/by heyvasorakurd
The number of leishmaniasis cases in 2022 reached almost 20 thousand cases in Tel Temer and its countryside, and this was caused by the Khabur river being extremely polluted due to the water being cut off by the turkish state, and also because of lack of awareness and knowledge among the local population on how to take protective measures and how to treat the disease.
But thanks to the efforts of the KRC center and the health education team and their house visits that where happening all year long, the pandemic was swiftly and effectively delt with. And last year, KRC made huge efforts to provide medicine and treatment to the patients. However, some patient used herbal alternatives to treat the disease which inevitably made their condition to worsen, and the medical team advices not to use these methods and to come to the leishmaniasis center to recive treatment and medicine if new cases of the disease occured.

With the support of Medico International Switzerland, the Kurdish Red Crescent continues to provide its medical services to the residents in remote villages in the outskirts of Tabqa through mobile clinics.

10 August، 2023/in Health/by heyvasorakurd

The services of the KRC continue in remote areas of Tabqa.
Access to remote and rural areas, especially those that have faced many crises, including a lack of medical services due to their distance from city centers, is one of the biggest challenges in providing healthcare.
Since 2016, the Kurdish Red Crescent has been providing services to these areas as part of its priorities and goals. Hundreds of remote villages have been targeted and provided with primary healthcare services, as well as services for women and children, through mobile clinics equipped with ambulances and medical teams. This is done through ongoing programs, and one of the targeted areas is the rural area of Tabqa. The mobile clinic team, currently supported by Medicos International Switzerland, visits several villages that are approximately 65 km away from the city center, continuing to provide the care that the residents in these areas have been lacking.
