A humanitarian appeal for Sheikh Maqsoud

The Kurdish Red Crescent has provided urgent medical assistance to our displaced people from the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods through a mobile clinic and a fully equipped ambulance, staffed by specialized medical personnel. Approximately 49 displaced families have arrived at the Takoshin camp in the city of Tabqa, which already houses 175 families displaced from the Shahba region since the end of 2014, following the fall of the Assad regime.
Additionally, 118 wounded individuals, mostly civilians, have arrived, requiring continuous and urgent medical care. Further waves of displaced people, including the injured and ill, are expected to arrive in the coming period. The camp faces increasing challenges in securing basic medical and relief services due to the continuous rise in the number of displaced people, amid legitimate fears of potential ethnic cleansing should they return to their original towns and villages.
This dire humanitarian situation necessitates the continuation and intensification of humanitarian efforts to ensure that the growing needs are met. To support wounded and displaced civilians and to secure medical care and essential services, the Kurdish Red Crescent provides you with the following donation links and accounts:

Continuing civil defense and first aid training using advanced equipment and machinery

As community members continue to join civil defense and first aid training, both basic and advanced, with the aim of mitigating risks during disasters and crises and supporting emergency response and medical care within the “Medico international” project, the training teams of the Kurdish Red Crescent strive to facilitate the delivery of information through the use of advanced equipment and tools in training operations.
“You can also join the training by contacting the commune.”

International Midwives Day

On the fifth of May each year, the world celebrates International Day of the Midwife in recognition of their role in supporting maternal and child health, promoting awareness of the importance of comprehensive obstetric and healthcare services, and directly contributing to reducing maternal and newborn mortality rates in crises.
in the Kurdish Red Crescent, we strive to improve working environments, provide continuous training for midwives, and invest in enhancing their skills to ensure the best possible care for mothers and their children. We also highlight the challenges faced by midwives and provide the necessary resources to improve health outcomes. In turn, we thank all midwives around the world for their efforts and their humanitarian and vital role related to sexual and reproductive health

Abu Khashab Primary Healthcare Center Services

Every day, the Kurdish Red Crescent center in the Abu Khashab camp, located east of Deir ez-Zor, receives about 120 IDPs. Each clinic in the center (internal medicine, pediatrics, and gynecology) sees around 40 cases daily, which range from regular check-ups to emergency care. They provide medical services and appropriate examinations for all age groups, along with distributing medications, while ambulance services are on standby 24/7 for any emergency situations.

Opening another road emergency point (ORKESH)

The presence of ambulance points on the roads is of great importance, as it can reduce the response time to accidents, which increases the chances of rescuing the injured.
The Kurdish Red Crescent, among the services it provides, opened the Orkesh emergency point at the crossroads linking the cities and villages of Amuda, Hasakah, and Qamishli.
This point is equipped with a team of paramedics and an ambulance with full primary and emergency equipment, and is ready around the clock to head to road accident cases in addition to transporting emergency cases in distant villages, in coordination with the operations room to facilitate access to the injured so that emergency services can be provided, and to transport them to hospitals in nearby cities in order to preserve lives, and reduce the time they take to arrive to receive appropriate treatment.

Continuation of the work of the mobile clinic in Al-Hasakah city

With the spread of seasonal diseases that increase during the winter, and to follow up on the health status of the displaced people, our medical teams continue through mobile clinics to go to the shelters of the displaced people of Al-Shahba and Afrin in the city of Al-Hasakah, where primary health care services are provided, which include examinations for internal diseases, children and women, in addition to the provision of medicines and health awareness for the displaced.

Distributing special needs for displaced children from Al-Shahba

besides health care services, the Kurdish Red Crescent teams continue to provide relief services to the displaced people of Afrin and Al-Shahba in the city of Al-Hasakah, where baskets containing diapers were distributed to 43 displaced families in 4 shelters.
